1. What is your favorite word?

Hullabaloo. It has quite a lot of lovely syllables. I hope I spelled it right.

 

2. What is your least favorite word?

Dish. I hate when people talk about food as this dish or that dish. I feel like I'm in the middle of a Top Chef episode. Same for collection, as it refers to clothing.

 

3. What turns you on/inspires you?

I can't even imagine James Lipton asking this question of me without shuddering a little bit. But art inspires me. It can be music, a painting, a poem (although rarely a poem because I don't like poetry), or a play. When I see other people being creative, my juices start flowing. I can also spend an 10 minutes in a craft store or a vintage store and start imagining all kinds of projects I can start.

 

4. What turns you off?

Being told what to do. It leaves me cold. I can take suggestion and I can do what's required of me, but I can't stand to be told exactly what to do and how to do it. Drives me mad.

 

5. What is your favorite curse word?

Fuckers. It's unoriginal and in incredibly bad taste but there it is.

 

6. What sound or noise do you love?

I love rain, of course. And the crack of a bat as it hits the ball down the first base line (all small ball, baby). I also love the sound of the keys being pushed on a piano without sound or just the slightest sound, the noise of scales being fingered on a flute, without actually hearing the notes, and one of my favorite sounds of all time is the sound of fingers moving on the guitar strings. CDs and produced music always edit that sound out. I can't understand why. It's the best part.

 

7. What sound or noise do you hate?

IMs. I like IMs but I hate the sound of a quick message. I also hate the sound of people talking with really dry mouths. I just want to give them water.

 

8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Maybe I'd like to run a music shop or own a bookstore or work in an art gallery. Or maybe I could combine them all in one and be an event planner of really creative parties. Except I'd only want to do the things I'd want to do. I'd be really bad at creating something in someone else's imagine. Oh well. I'll take that one back.

9. What profession would you not like to attempt?

I couldn't be a doctor. I need more sleep, less pressure, and less sickness. I can be nurturing when someone I love is sick but I can't stand to attend to people covered in germs if I don't like them first. I'm shuddering thinking about it. Plus I have a horrible memory. I wouldn't be good at remember the bones and organs and stuff like that. I know my limits.

 

10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

You're cool with me if I'm cool with you. Oh and the reason I allowed all those attrocities to happen, especially in places where you didn't live, was because I have rules and limitations too. I'm not actually all powerful. (I think I might be able to accept that.)

1. What is your favorite word?

 I don't know if this counts, but I've always enjoyed the word "bathtub". it's one of those words that if you say it enough times, it starts making no sense at all. Bathtub, tub, baaaathtuuuub. Bathtub. Tub.

2. What is your least favorite word?

 Anyhoo. I'm not sure where my  hatred of this comes from, but I really dislike the usage of "anyhoo" in place of "anyway".

3. What turns you on/inspires you?

 Other people. There's a lot of genuinely good people out there in the world and I'm honest enough to admit I'm not one of them. But those who are good, really inspire me. Not to be good myself, but to attempt to be good. I know I don't have it in me to be a good person, but I'm always amazed by people who are good. I have a friend who is the ebodiment of good and I look up to her all the time.

4. What turns you off?

 Litterbugs. Yesterday I watched a (probably homeless) guy finish the fried chicken he was eating, (gently!) place the stryofoam lunch container on the ground, and then walk ten feet over to the trash can to look in it to see if anything was in it worth taking. Amazing.

5. What is your favorite curse word?

 Fucknuts.

6. What sound or noise do you love?

 Please don't judge me, but the sound of my dog farting. Even though he's gassy as hell he usually doesn't make any noise. But Lord, when he does, it's the quietest of air releases. Cracks me up every time.

7. What sound or noise do you hate?

 Silverware scraped on a plate.

8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Kindergarten teacher. I really enjoy little kids, and while I realize that there's actual work involved, I think it would be a hoot to play all day.

9. What profession would you not like to attempt?

 Doctor. I always wanted to be a doctor but I realized in my freshman year of college that I didn't give one flying fox about what little teeny tiny cells were doing in the body. Also that I like sleeping.

1. What is your favorite word?

Most useful: accordingly
Most fun to say: onomatopoeia

I love all words so this is hard.

Most likely to make my guard go up: "merely" or "just"--I automatically get suspicious when someone uses these words to try to trivialize something.

3. What turns you on/inspires you?

Turn ons and inspiring things aren't the same at all!

Turn ons: a sexy voice, skinnydipping, playing hooky, steamy romance novels, suggestive lyrics, my oh so vivid imagination--um, I better stop now.

Inspirations: clothes, shoes, purses--all these relate to the way I make outfits--I pick something that really speaks to me and then plan the rest of the outfit accordingly.  Aside from clothes, puzzles, problems, and lively discussions all inspire me.

4. What turns you off?

Like what do I get most impatient with? or dismiss easily? If I can tell someone doesn't really want help or doesn't really want to listen or learn, I disengage instantly.

5. What is your favorite curse word?

whore, ho, bastard, but only the way my friends say them because their tone of voice and mannerisms just crack me up.

6. What sound or noise do you love?

peaceful quiet, a good beat, my phone/text message sound (not email though--that's too closely related to work)

this incessant beeping in one of the elevators at work, I wish they'd fix it already!

Of course I love you, and of course I'm proud of you, but most of all I respect the person you have become. And to be able to say that about your own child is such a gift, so for that, I thank you.

Supper. I love that word. My mom would say, "Supper's ready!" Makes me want to eat! Other words I cant remember...

2. What is your least favorite word(s)?
The "L-word" that means to spit. I also hate the word panties. It grosses me out. The new word I hate: Mounds. After I heard a girl describe her breasts as such in jr. high.  I also hate the word "rape" and the "n-word."

3. What inspires you? 
People that get things done. People who always have new things going on in their lives. People with great talent in art/dance.

4. What turns you off? 
Arrogance, cockiness, rudeness, dumbness, people who think they are better than others, or people who think the world owes them something if not everything.

5. What is your favorite curse word? Ive been known to drop the s-word and the f-word. I say crap a lot. Also Douchebag I say A LOT. Or just Douche.

6. What sound or noise(s) do you love? 
The sound of the ocean/beach, kitties purring, rain, wind, sound of someone cooking in the kitchen, football on the TV (reminds me of my dad watching it as a kid)

Someone biting their nails, music I cant stand, screaming kids in public, people having loud conversations in public or on a cell phone. 

8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Digital artist/illustrator. Hopefully someday. Ive been practicing, but I have a long way to go. Also freelance graphic designer, which I already do on a small level.

9. What profession would you not like to attempt? 
Anything with public speaking. I will kick, scream and cry if I have to do it. HATE IT.

The lord will say, Because you were a good person in life, you get to rock in heaven! Or something along those lines.

1. What is your favorite word?

Cake! It's almost impossible not to smile slightly when you say "cake." There are two words I overuse: "ostensibly" and "appreciably."

2. What is your least favorite word?

"Asterisk," because I had a terrible time learning to pronounce it. And "ointment."

3. What turns you on/inspires you?

People who are really, really good at their jobs, even if the job itself isn't that awesome. Like a barista who keeps everything running smoothly during a morning rush, or a vet tech who is totally unflappable even when she's been peed on for the tenth time that day.

4. What turns you off?

Willful ignorance. People who know better but still don't change their ways.

5. What is your favorite curse word?

To say, "f*ck," but my husband uses the word "chum" as a curse word sometimes, and it makes me laugh like crazy. Like if the Lakers are playing badly he'll yell "What IS this chum??? Why do we have the chum lineup in?"

The sound of vice, like the flick of a cigarette lighter. Flick...aaaah. The sound of wine being opened. Pop! Glugluglug...Clink!

My cat scratching or throwing up on an expensive area rug.

Hmm. Talk radio host, or my own TV talk show, I won't be picky. Novelist. Book reviewer. House painter. I would really like to paint houses for a living.

Butchering animals, car sales, pharmaceutical sales, or anything involving children under 14. I wouldn't make a good waitress, either.

oh, and relrel, if the dog in your avatar is yours, i kind of understand about the noise.  although it is not my favorite, (because it is a terrible stench) my gassy french bulldog tooting makes me laugh every time too.
