A friend and I decided to meet at the last minute in Las Vegas. We want to go next week. Any recommendations on decent and inexpensive hotels on the Strip? as well as things to do?
The Flamingo and Imperial palace are a bit cheaper, no-fills rooms. I usually stay there b/c how much time do you spend in your room anyway?
There is sooo much to do! Shopping, eating, just seeing all the hotels and everything. Also Hoover Dam is pretty cool if you want a day trip out of Vegas.
I stayed in the Luxor when I went to Vegas two years ago. It was cheesy and fun. The only bad thing is that it is far down on the strip and the only thing we could walk to was Excalibur and whatever the other hotel right nearby is.
I was only there for 3 nights and most of that time was spent going around to all the hotels. I also went to the Ethel M candy factory, which has a cactus garden as well, and that was really cool.
make sure to check out the new part of the Forum shops at Ceasars - it's the new wing that has 3 levels and some amazing stores (Chrome Hearts, Juicy Couture, Thomas Pink, Kate Spade, Nanette Lepore, Luca Luca, etc.). 2 of the best restaurants in LA also opened branches there - Sushi Roku and Boa (steaks). Neither are cheap, but they're both great experiences.
You'll have so much fun! Vegas is a great quick getaway - especially from the northwest weather.
I never do much in Vegas other than walk around to the various gigantic hotels and check out their shops and general setup. There is so much to look at in all of them.
I've said this before, but I've never stayed at the Paris but I would because it's pretty, the casino is nice, it's centrally located, and I think it's pretty affordable.
I'd also stay at the Treasure Island (or as they now call it, the TI). I haven't stayed there either though. My dad loves to gamble and knows a lot about Vegas, apparently they are revamping this hotel to make it more adult fun and less family friendly. It's kinda at the end of the strip, but it's only across the street from Venetian, right next to Mirage, and not that far from Ceasars.
i've stayed at the aladdin on the strip and it was ok (there's a lot of shops inside the aladdin). new york, new york is one of the younger crowds on the strip (and good location). off the strip, where all my l.a. friends and i go is the hard rock. if i was going to stay on the strip, eventhough it's far, i would stay at the mandalay bay...the pool looks AMAZING! it even has a LAZY RIVER.
