Halloween wedding fashion (I'm serious)
Permalink Closed

So, one of my (rather eccentric) friends is getting married on Halloween and is insisting on a costume party for the reception (wedding is small, family only). What the heck am I supposed to wear?! And I already (snarkily) thought of a bride/groom for me and the bf, but the invite expicitly says those aren't allowed, not that I would have really done that. It was just an amusing thought to entertain.

Preferably, I'd like it to be something that isn't overly costumy and something my bf and I can wear as a couple. Help!

Honestly, I was thinking about revisiting last year's costumes (Fred and Daphne), but making them more formal/elegant. I have a purple satin cocktail dress that would be perfect. I just don't know if I could get him to wear that blond Fred wig again...

Oh, and D, they did mention that we need to keep the costumes tasteful as there will be children there. smile.gif

I am so looking forward to this.

Rhett and Scarlett?  Or some other romantic couple

sydney, I like that idea.

I was also thinking about wearing my purple dress and getting a purple birthday cone hat and then telling people I'm a naked crayon (no label/wrapper on me). I could do the same for the bf, just in a different color. I just feel like such a weirdo going to a wedding in a costume...

Rhett and Scarlett is a good one!

Other couples ideas:

Bonnie & Clyde

Marilyn Monroe & Joe DiMaggio (bf might probably have to wear something Yankees related so people get it)

Sandy & Danny from Grease

I dont think it should be a silly/quirky costume. I love something glamorous, how often is it that you get to dress up and in costume? I like the Marilyn and Joe or maybe Marilyn + JFK. Maybe Cleopatra and Antony (you could probably do the purple dress anyway). What about Angelina and Brad?

I like the suggestions of famous/glamorous couples. BF hates it. He wants to do something stupid. Like really stupid. Like a gorilla. Or Stewy (sp) from Family Guy. Ugh. We're going to have to find the middle ground somewhere. I hate buying premade costumes, but this might be an instance where we need to visit a costume store and do that.

Oh and for reference purposes, the bride and groom will be Alice and The Mad Hatter.

Oh and did I mention that there will be people there from high school who I haven't seen in over a decade? It's going to be the high school reunion I've been avoiding. Only with costumes. Awesome.

Ok - your BF wants to be dorky - he can be King Kong and you can be that glamour chick he rescues from the top of the Empire State Building (sorry - I don't really follow King Kong)

first, I love the king kong/fay wray idea.

another idea is simply getting face masks like mardi gras or venetian:

venetian masks:

mardi gras masks:

this way you could wear a great dress (purple would be perfect for a mardi gras mask!) and the boy could wear a suit...

I like both of these ideas.
