Help me style my birthday present

I am receiving this sweater dress (in this color) as my one birthday gift. I know it isn't the most practical item but I loved it. I would love advice where to get affordable tights to wear with it. Or other ways to style it.

cute! simply the dress and a pair of boots will look great, but there are other ways to wear it, of course... as far as affordable tights, I'd look at Marshall's or TJ Maxx.

I have a cap sleeve sweater that I wear over puffy short sleeve blouse like this -- I really like the look

I like the other suggestions - I'd also try a skinny belt around it as another option - very "in" right now

Thank you all for the advice it really made me glad to make this my birthday gift.

D: A big sleeve top is a great idea, I bought two t-shirt material one's from Express...I know not exactly your vision, but I think it will work.

I will be getting tights ASAP once it gets cold here in Chicago I will post in threadstyle and see how i did :)
