Hair Glazing?
Permalink Closed

Has anyone ever tried this?  Supposedly it makes your hair look really glossy but I wonder if there would be a huge line when it grows out.

I've done it. There isn't a line because it fades. It's not really worth it to get a clear gloss, but it can add a little extra punch to your natural color, and that's worth the maintenance (it has to be redone every month). Actually, though, I get the same effect from Natural Instincts semi-permanent, without the time commitment required for the salon (I'm in school, so time is a problem!)

I get it done everytime I get my hair colored. I really like it. Like Dizzy said it fades, so there really isn't a line. I can notice it because I know it is there, but I don't think people would notice unless it is pointed out to them. I ALWAYS get compliments on how great my hair looks. Even when I do'nt really do anything to it people always say it is really pretty.

Yep, always got the Redken shades glossing when my hair was brunette.  It makes your hair shiny and is semi-permanent, so it does fade (no line).  However, it only works if your hair is in healthy condition.

What is glazing exactly? Does it add any color to the hair of is it just clear? And how much does it run?
Thanks!

It doesn't really add any color to your hair. It just makes it shiner. It is actually just like ti sounds. They put the glaze all over your hair and it makes it shiny- like when you glaze a piece of pottery. I am not sure how much it cost. My stylist/colorist has been doing my hair for so long, so quite often she adds extras for free. That is just something she does for free.

ah, thanks, im quite interested it getting it done now. I think itll check around for prices. What i like most i that it doesnt leave a noticieable line (im trying to grow my hair back to its natural color and its almost there :) )
Thanks :)

My stylist always added a punch of color to the glaze, afer the first glaze. And you can get the glaze at beauty supply stores.

I've glazed my hair before (right after I got it straightened and it was BAD).  I just got the glaze at Sally's Beauty Supply - they have clear as well as tinted.  If I remember correctly, it was about the same amount of $$ as a box of regular haircolor.

I wouldn't do a permanent glaze treatment (do they even make permanent ones?) at home, but why not if it's just gonna wash out?

If you're new to dying and want to diy, I've had really good luck with Natural Instincts. I once got a line where the ends took more dye than the roots, but when I figured out that I need to water down the dye before putting it on the ends, it got a lot better. It adds a TON of shine, I get a lot of compliments on my hair (at least until it fades) and my roommate even started using it too.

But if you're experienced at dying, I think you'd be fine wth the glaze from the store. The ones I've seen don't come with directions, though, so if thi is your first time it might not be a good idea to do it unsupervised. Do you know anyone who could help you?
