New shorts length

I have been noticing a lot of shorts that are knee length for spring, sort of like higher cropped pants. What do you think of the style? Are these cute? Would they flatter a petite height?

it's not new, but i am excited that this is going to be a big look this spring.  i bought a few shorts like this last year and everyone made fun of me on fashionhag (except dear honey, who always backs me up!)--i want to know which of those hags are going to be wearing them this year?! i will meet them on the playground after school.

I think that this length is really cute on the right person... I just wish I was that person! :) Boo to being short!

those are really cute.

i don't think i made fun of you bumblebee! at least, i hope i didn't.

i have chicken legs and it also bothers me that the hip-to-knee part of my leg is disproportionately longer than the knee-to-ankle part so i think i look terrible in anything other than short shorts. i might give in this summer because sometimes i get sick of wearing skirts all the time.

bumblebee, I don't know if I was one the hags who made fun of you or not, but I'll be trying some of these on for spring/summer.  I think they'd look hot with some heels or wedges.

I love, love, love them -- I have a Guess pair I've been wearing for years.

My husband, however, hates them. He says they remind him of all the Mormon girls we went to school with (couldn't wear short shorts). I hate shorts, though -- these are the only kind I'll wear.

I am about 5'3 and I have a 31" inseam and they look good on me. I like them a lot better than capris because those just look like pants that are a little too short for me.

I have a pair similar to these. Mine are a little girlier looking.  I got the last year from UO. I really like them.

And I just got these. I really like them.

I hate that length, but only if they're above the knee - below the knee is somehow OK. I think I hate it because I don't think it looks good on anyone who doesn't have long, slim legs. They look too preppy to me, and I can only take 'preppy' in certain forms, it seems.

I love the striped ones from UO. The lines help to look skinny...

I've admired the length but I've never really found a pair to fall in love with. I tried too...I think I exhausted the Juicy bermuda shorts and I'm still looking. I used to wear them a long time ago, when I was more self-conscious about my thighs so that I could still wear shorts.

well i love them. like bumblebee, i'm really excited that more people are doing them this spring. i really wanted the old navy ones from last summer but my thighs said no. i'm thinking the slightly longer length (the on ones were above the knee) might work better for most people (well for me anyway).

I don't know who made fun of you, but I love those shorts, I have a pair of white ones and I want to get more.

I'm short and I wear them. I prefer them to capri's or cropped pants because they are never the right length on me....I just look like I'm getting ready for a flood.  But I never wear flat shoes with something this length because I feel like my ankles look thick.

I like this length as long as they're not baggy.  I think they look better when they're a bit slim in the leg.

edited to add... I meant this for me, on me.  Personally, I feel a little too "sk8er girl" in ones that aren't a little form-fitting in the butt and legs.  That's a cute look, I suppose.  But I feel better when they're slim in this length.

I think those shorts are perfect on petite people. I am tall with long legs and big thighs and I keep my distance from those shorts because I feel like Herman Munster in them, they're just awkward. I stick to my cropped pants. But I do wish I could embrace the shorts.

Bumblebee,

I love this type of short. I lusted after a pair of builtbywendy shorts two years ago but couldnt get them in my size. I found a couple pairs that are kind of similar at Old Navy last year but i think the ones coming out this year are going to be a bit more tapered in the leg. I'm looking forward to purchasing a few pairs.

Let us know what you end up buying.
