Makeup recs?
Permalink Closed

I have a $250 g.c. to Bloomie's that I would like to use to buy myself some new makeup, only because I am bored with mine. Right now I wear mostly Clinique and M.A.C., which have both served me well but I am ready for some fun new stuff. I'd love to hit one counter and just buy a new face. Any suggestions? A couple of my friends swear by Trish McEvoy, so was considering that, but would love to hear your thoughts. TIA!

NARS. Their stuff is amazing. And I like their colors--subtle but fashionable. Plus the people that work their counters are usually really nice.

If you like the color palette at MAC you would also like NARS and Smashbox.  I use mostly MAC, but I also like NARS for eyeshadow and the multiple sticks are great, everything at Smashbox, Laura Mercier for foundation primer, Lancome for bronzer in the big round disc.  If you don't already have a great set of make-up brushes I would invest.  They get expensive if you buy them all at once and with $250 you could get a great set.

i dont' know what your personal makeup style is like, but trish mcevoy is really fun. maybe if you don't have good makeup brushes you could get the little kit she has. seasonally she puts out these little makeup cards that fit perfect with this portable brush set. it's a good way of trying lots of new makeup colors without shelling out tons of money for full size products. i have a little card that i love when i travel. also the cards aren't that expensive (like $20-25 each I think?)

Trish McEvoy definitely.  My mom recently bought me a bunch of Laura Mercier's make-up (foundation, powder, under-eye concealer, bronzer) and it's ok but I'm not too impressed.  Actually I do like the concealer, bronzer, and lip treatment.  The trish foundation is just amazing to me and I love her colors also.  I also like Stila's eye-shadows.

I also really like stila and urban decay for eyeshadow, and shiseido for powders

Trish McEvoy brushes & Stila.  If they carry Fresh, check out their eyeshadow & lipstick.

I second Nars. Their foundation is to die for! All of the stuff I have tried has been really good quality. I have sensitive skin and nothing has ever made me break out or gone off.

Stila is quite good too. A little cuter/girly-er colors and packaging. But I find that their lipsticks go off quite quickly. A few of mine started to smell weird after only a few months. I have had Mac lipsticks that last for years. (Oops...is that gross?) But I really love their lipglosses in a pen-like thing with the brush tip. "Blackberry" lipgloss rocks and looks good on so many different people.
