coworker compliment. lol.

Today one of my coworkers told me I "always dress so well" and I "look like I stepped out of People magazine." He quickly added he meant that in a good way. I was amused and sort of please by the comment. Just thought I'd share my amusement. I'm surprised anyone in this podunk town even notices what I wear.

One of my coworkers said the same thing to me on Friday (not the "people magazine" part, but just that I always dress well and look so pretty all the time). The weird thing is, this is also the woman I overheard snarkily commenting a few months ago on how I "always dress up" and it was definitely in a less than complimentary way. So now I don't know if she was being sincere on Friday and has changed her mind, or was internally mocking me confuse.gif

The People magazine comment was what cracked me up the most. This came from a guy who's probably around 40. I was definitely amused.

Ha!  Aren't people weird?  I just got a comment yesterday too, about how I always dress so nicely for school (I was wearing khaki trousers, a printed tank, long black cardi, and wedges at the time).  Then she followed it up with 'I'm kinda starting to hate you'.  Um, thanks I guess?

Kenzie - I wonder if his People comment was meant to convey he though you looked current/trendy?  But somehow I'm thinking a male in his 40's isn't exactly People's target audience ...

I got stopped at Macy*s department store by a girl who insisted we "knew" each other. She proceeded to tell me she immediately knew who I was because I always look stylish in school. Apparently we were in the same English class in college the previous year and she always noticed that I was always late (I rushed to class after work!) but that she always caught a glimpse of my outfits. I was flatter I made such an impression, but a little freaked out I had no idea who she was!

I love those compliments that unexpectedly let you know someone pays attention.

Not enough people give them. I think of all the people I notice that have no idea who I am, and how it must be reciprocated somewhere along the way and I have no idea. Secret crushes; admirations; etc.

The other day I was in line at TJ Maxx buying a belt and someone asked if I wrote the fashion column in the local newspaper. I guess they put her photo in the paper and I resemble her, but I figured, being mistaken for a fashion columnist has to be a comment on being fashionable, right? Or, it's close enough to a compliment that I'll take it as such.
