Ebay Chanel rant
Permalink Closed

Maybe this should go under Ebay but I'm ticked off right now. For some reason ebay will not let me sell 2 Chanel items that I have. A pair of flats and the thigh high boots. Now I've seen both of these items on ebay before but I'm restricted from selling them because they might be fake??? That's BS I've sold Gucci, Louboutin and Dolce on ebay already and have positive feedback on their authenticity. So WTF??? I've been in communication with them and all I get is these crappy emails that don't even address my issue. AAARRRGGGHHHh I'm mad, I just want to get rid of these items already!

I also have a Chanel bag inherited from my grandmother that I've tried to sell and they have removed TWICE - it's so annoying. Now my policy rating on ebay is "failing" because they count that as two strikes, even though everything else is perfect.
If you can get to the bottom of it, please let me know - are they just going to refuse all vintage luxury items? I really want to sell this dumb bag, i'll never use it!

well they just lost a case in france for selling counterfeit goods, and just won a case in the states for selling counterfeit goods...  I think they're being extra careful right now.

I think the result of the LVMH lawsuit was that they can be fined $500m for LISTING any item with the namesake. They're probably trying to be extra careful.

There are alternative routes to selling designer goods though. Try www.honestforum.com.

Try selling on fashion swap.

I thought the only time they looked at your listing was if somebody reported it as fake.  The person reporting is probably somebody else selling bags (probably a power seller) that doesn't want any competition.

Anywho they probably automatically remove listings that people report without looking at them.

The court ruled that like 90% of designer goods on ebay are fake and that ebay is negligent in preventing the sale of fake goods.. theyre probably just restricting everything until they can strategize.

Kitty, have you used them before? I'm always afraid of selling such high end goods on sights I'm not familiar with but I'd go for it if you give it an ok!

I have bought things from there before and it went fine. It's mostly girls from MUA, so that makes me feel comfortable. There are a lot of girls selling high end stuff there..so maybe you could ask them for their advice/experience?

I 2nd Kitty's rec to try selling on Fashion Swap - I've sold a lot of things there and never had a problem.  Like Kitty said, it's mostly girls from MUA.  I try to sell there before Ebay since Ebay's new rules and fees suck.
