AWESOME skincare discovery

Ok - this may be old news to you guys, so disregard this if it is, BUT -
So you know how people always say vitamins A,C, and E are good for skin hair and nails, right?
Also, I know some women put vitamin E on their nipples while nursing to help heal the skin -
Well, a girl I worked with had gorgeously radiant skin, and she told me she popped vitamin E capsules and spread the oil over her skin.
I finally started putting on vitamin E at night (it's much too viscous to use during the day, IMO) about two weeks ago, and I noticed a difference the first day - my skin looks better than it ever has before - and I'm doing everything else the same.
I worked at Origins for awhile and am pretty into natural skincare so I've always had clear skin when I wasn't lazy about washing my face (which sadly is much too often) but I always wanted to know how to get that glowing look that it seems only starlets and children have - this is the missing link, girls - I've cracked the code to the impossible skin I thought I could never have!

Also, supposedly your skin absorbs things better while you sleep because of body temperature or something. Congrats that it's working so well and thanks for sharing!

yeah - actually your body, including skin, does all it's repair processes while you sleep (which is why you sleep so much when you're sick!) so that's also when it's able to make the most use of whatever you put on it.

I just bought some! I had to stock up on drugstore essentials anyway, so this post prompted me to make a drugstore.com order...can't wait to try this!

I use the Vitamin C serum form Avon and my skin has never looked better either... I also only use it at nighttime and I love it!

Another thing I really like is the tub of Palmer's Shea Butter or Cocoa Butter for a nighttime moisturizer. Cheap and very moisturizing, especially in the winter.

I use a product by REN called OMEGA 3 overnight serum. It is a pure oil of omega 3, vitamen E & A.

My skin has also become amazing since using this product.

Nature's Bounty Natural Vitamin E-Oil
  • Dietary Supplement.
  • 30,000 Per bottle.
  • Pure enough to take orally.
  • Vegetarian formula.
  • Nature's Bounty Natural E-Oil is so pure it can be taken orally.
  • Each five drops contain 100 International Units of a Vitamin E - D-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate - in a natural base of wheat germ and vegetable oils.

You can buy it already in oil form so you don't have to pop E capsuls. This one is $8.50 at Walgreens. I bought their store brand product a few years back, and it is probably cheaper. Just an FYI, I would think a bottle would last a nice long time.

I know so many think have said this is a "miracle" product, but my aunt did this for awhile and broke out very badly (she started using a Vitamin E cream, which worked well). I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, so just be careful. While this may work wonders for some people, it might do the opposite for others.

uh oh - now I'm scared! Do you know how long it worked well for her before she started breaking out?
I am breakout prone - maybe that isn't doing this to me because I also use teatree oil in the AM?

I don't know how long it was, but I do know she did for a few weeks, trying to see if the breakouts would end.  Like I said, it could work wonders for some people but not for others.  If it is working for you so far I wouldn't worry :)

What about sensitive skin? Vitamin C makes me burn and turn red. Any comparison? I'm assuming you don't apply this to your eyes, right?

Yeah i was afraid of this because of all that extra oil. Especially in the summer.

I use vitamin e from time to time but I don't slather it on my whole face.  I generally avoid the "t zone" and spot treat the areas that need more hydration.  If you are already oily and prone to break out, use sparingly.

I also have sensitive skin - this seems very gentle.  also, colette, it's not an oil as in like olive oil or any other kind of fatty oil - it is pretty thick and sticky though, and like I said, I am prone to breakouts, but this hasn't seemed to clog my pores or anything like that -

Just to add to this, a couple other things that I have discovered are absolutely wonderful for the skin are:

Organic Virgin Coconut oil - Wonderful for the skin and hair, taken internally or applied to the skin. Amazingly something in coconut oil reacts with the bacteria in break outs and helps get rid of them! I've had some break outs on my forehead recently and putting some coconut oil on them before bed had helped so much! (Bonus is that coconut oil taken internally stimulates the thyroid and almost always results in weight loss.)

Raw Honey - I just started washing my skin with honey and it has never been softer or looked healthier. My legs were getting dry and flakey so I mixed sea salt with honey to make a scrub and I swear my legs are softer and nicer then ever. Even better then right after they go to town on them during a pedicure. It's great for washing the face too, my skin looks amazing!

i know that's right about the honey - when my skin was looking particularly blah, i would do a honey and aspirin mask - my skin was soft and glowing afterwards - amazingly though, knock on wood, my skin has been glowing and been everything i want it to be since i started using this vitamin E. I can't believe it.

I tried this last night, and it was way stickier/thicker than I expected. I kept it on for about an hour while I read and then I had to wash it off before I went to sleep because I didn't want to get my pillowcase all gross. I think maybe I'll try to find a serum or something made for your face... I just couldn't imagine keeping it on all night!

Any side effects to taking it internally?
