ebay ? would you buy from...
Permalink Closed

would you buy from a seller who only has 1 feedback (positive)?  i looks like the seller changed their name on jan 8th, and i can't figure out how to check feedback on the other name.

and i checked the feedback on the buyer (who left the aforementioned feedback) and that buyer has 70% negative feedback as a seller -- stuff like "fradulent seller" "never recieved item" "45 days later -- never recieved item -- filing claim with visa".

ooh, even shadier -- the item # of the one sale this seller has made so far is "private".

am i being overly suspicious?

here's this guy's feedback page:

I would pass. Its too shady for me esp since he has 4 positives (all private) from the same buyer. Skip it.

Usually people don't change their ebay names because they want to build up their feedback to be really high and really positive. Being that his last id was created in Nov 2004 and now changing it in Jan 2005 I would be suspicious.

you're being rightfully suspicious. unless it's something you've had your eye on a long time that's hard to find, I would forget about bidding. it's just not worth the hassle.

i know you're probably right, but i really want it -- it's a pair of true religion destroyed jeans that end in 2 hrs and are only at $40 right now ... wahhhhh ...  why do people have to be shady and ruin my fun?

don't do it! there's a ton of fake true religions on ebay right now. i got a pair of the destroyed true religions (bobby style) from a reputable seller named angelamama and they seem pretty authentic ( i don't want to say 100% b/c i'm not 100% familiar with trs, but the seem very legit)

I wouldn't do it.  Chances are they're fake.  There's probably a reason he changed his seller ID and the private feedback is a big red flag.  I think he's bad news.

I wouldn't.  Sounds too sketchy to me.

Skip it, he could be using other aliases (with bogus auctions) to up his new feedback. Changing his name that often would be a big red flag to me.

Exactly!  You may want those jeans badly, but not bad enough to get ripped off, right?  Save yourself a headache and pass.

i'm going to pass.  he has a bunch of auctions ending in the next few days -- it will be interesting to see how those turn out.

I would definetly check to see how the auctions end and who the winner was esp if its the same person. I also didn't like how he kept the auctions private and you couldn't even see what the person won.

These are almost definitely fake...my advice is to pass. What honey said is true - there are a lot of fake TR (and Seven) on eBay at the moment...
