Outfit Opinions

I'm going to Dallas this weekend and will be posting several outfit ideas because I have several things planned, my brother is setting me up with someone, AND my best friend from college, a hot shot NY investment banker, will be in town to and she's so I want to look chic to impress her

My first outfit question... My brother and I are going to watch his girlfriend perform with the Dallas Orchestra (she's a violin major at SMU). I grew up being dragged to the symphony so I know what to wear, but I want to look cute because we will go out afterward. I was thinking this top, skirt (gotta love Target), and boots.

Here are my issues... believe it or not the boots work with the skirt, at least I think so. I think the green is funky and unexpected. But is the ribbed sweater too chunky/ casual. It's really fitted and flattering, but the ribbing bothers me a little.

Thoughts? Questions? Suggestions? Or should I just go back to square 1 and find something else to wear?

Hmmmm, the sweater is a bit casual.  Do you have anything black/flowy/sheer you could pair with the skirt?

I see that skirt and boots with a different sweater, maybe a boatneck one or a cardigan that isn't ribbed. Otherwise, go back to square one.

How about a sequined or beaded cardi?

I like the whole idea but the t-neck is a bit casual.

like the combo of the skirt & boots. and i agree with the other ladies concerning the sweater. if you must do a t-neck it would look better if it weren't ribbed. i'm thinking a semi-sheer cashmere. and i really like the idea of a boatneck or a james perse style foldover type shirt.

I love the outfit, unexpectingly sexy, but I do agree that a flowy boat neck top would be great. I have a sheer boatneck sweater with a chunky neck and sleeve from 3 years ago from BCBG that would be cute, I will see if I can find a pick to help with my description.

while i like the boatneck idea better than the tneck, i think the tneck would be okay depending on the fabric.  if it's a matte cotton-y one, then def. no, but if it's something with a sheen i think you could get away with it.  to me the tneck is sophisticated looking, esp. with the boots.
