Anyone Ever Try Electrolysis?
Permalink Closed

I tried it for about a month and did not stick with it due to hectic schedule/lack of budget.  I am getting pretty sick of plucking the same 13 hairs every week.  Has anyone tried it and had any success?  If so, how many sessions did you have?

I've had it done off and on for years. I like it, and I've definitely seen results. If you only have a very small area that needs work, then it won't take many sessions. Once you have it taken care of you'll need to go once a year or so for maintenance.

do you mean electrolysis or laser?
as far as i know, E is pretty outdated and laser is the way to go, (though now there's even a new version of that, that works on all skin and hair colors and is like half the time, called pulse light technology. )
anyway, i had laser done on my underarms and bikini line about 6 years ago, and i would say it pretty much eliminated hair in those areas for like 4 years. they told me i would possibly need touch up treatments but i haven't been able to afford it since. on the whole, i was happy with the results.

I am referring to electrolysis because I have heard that 1) laser is rarely permanent 2) I cant afford it and 3) it does not work on hairs that lack pigment and I am afraid that some of my "trouble hairs" are clear or blonde.

I do electrolysis.  I do not go as often as I should so it has been taking a while, but I have definitely seen results.  It can be tedious as well, but I consider it worth it.

bebegirl020, can you tell me how many sessions you have tried and whether your results are permanent?

I did about 4 sessions and saw results of a slow down but within a month of not going to the salon, it all came back.

I have probably gone to about 15 total sessions but over the span of 3 years because I was away at college so I could only go when I was back in town visiting home.  I would go in for 15 minute sessions but definitely needed to stay for a longer amount of time...I sort of felt like the lady wanted to rush me out of there and preferred that people made 15 minute sessions. At this point I just go in for maintence though and its been that way probably for the last 5 sessions.

FYI: I had Intense Pulse Light (IPL) "permanent" hair removal done on my underarms...I had about 10 treatments prior to finding out I was pregnant.  It seemed to work great.......however, now that I'm pregnant, my hair not only grew back, but THICKER!!!!!  Crazy hormones.
