LUST and what to do about it :)

Have any of you ever bought something on line thinking it's a 99% probable return item only to fall over when you open the box? Well, I must be nuts but when i opened the deep pink Betsey Johnson box with it's leopard tissue paper lining and saw these shoes my jaw dropped. I CANNOT explain it- they are gorgeous but waaay over the top, completely impractical and I can't stop staring at them! I couldn't copy from 6pm.com so this is a bad pic, sorry.

Betsey Johnson - Carline...
Betsey Johnson - Carline...I don't know what it is about these that grabs my imagination so much? It can't be the rose print soles or the cutout heel b/c I checked out the same style in black satin which is much more wearable for my life and I don't feel the same about them at all. I never in a million years thought I'd go for gemstone encrusted leopard print satin shoes. My daughter says they belong in the "slut kit" (anything remotely sexy goes in the slut kit :)

My H who is Mr. Conservative loves them and says he'll pay for them which is a highly unusual occurance since he thinks I have too many shoes, NOT!

Am I nuts?  What would YOU wear these with? Would you not be caught dead in them ever?

I think they're adorable and I'm glad you're keeping them. Sometimes you just need to hang onto the purchases that make no sense but make you feel like a minx!

Some things just make your heart sing and you can't explain it - just go with it!

(better pic)

You know... they're totally not me, and ordinarily they're something I'd hate... but I agree with you that there's something about them....

I heart them, except for the jewels.

I think you can wear them with dark trouser jeans and a frilly blouse and go out for a low-key dinner without feeling like you've raided the slut kit.

Or chocolate brown dress slacks and a sedate, solid-color top, like pink or beige.

I love them, and normally I hate leopard print shoes. I'd keep them.

Yes, yes they are shoes that make my heart sing....how perfectly put, thank you! I have been grasping at straws to figure out this apparent irrationality on my part. I feel like a little girl who has just discovered the most beautiful tiara, you know? Now if I could just figure out how to get away with wearing it:)

I WILL keep them and Suasoria I totally agree about the stones but funny, they really add to the charm for me even though they are the primary reason the shoes are over the top.

Maybe my love for these reminds me of something that happened in a DSW store not too long ago. I was in the designer section. I rounded the aisle and came upon a little old lady wearing a deep red coat. Her legs were fashionably bare but they were battered by age spots and veins. On her feet were stunning leopard pumps and she was standing sort of uncertainly. Her blonde hair was in some sort of classy updo and I remember being so surprised to see her ...a 70 something in leopard pumps and a red coat. Amazing!

It put a smile on my face so I complimented her and a little old man appeared out of nowhere and proudly told me that HE had picked them out. As we talked, I realized that she was already senile or possibly in the early stages of Altzheimers and he was buying his love something to bring her back. I was so touched, it was so sweet the way he cared for her. He bought her beautiful expensive leopard pumps.... how entirely inappropriate yet how perfect at the same time.

I don't know if it's the gloomy weather but I just feel like life goes by so fast sometimes. Geeze just yesterday I was in my 20's (okay, okay it was my 40's!) but hey! I want to be 70 and wearing something beautiful even when I am not. These shoes make me feel beautiful and yes Fairywings a little like a minx :) I appreciate you guys "getting" the shoes, I was a tad worried about myself :)
