I am so vain that I actually asked my obstetrician if it would be okay for me to tan while I am pregnant!  I am gaining weight, and feel gross, and to be pasty white in the spring and summer just pushes me over the edge!!!

Well, to my SHOCK, she said that it actually wouldn't hurt...nonetheless, I am too chicken to (1) risk it and (2) walk in and get the disapproving looks at the salon.

So, I am in desperate need of self-tanner advice....well, actually, I won't use self-tanner because I just can't do it and always look ridiculous.  But, thinking about trying some kind of lotion with gradual bronzer or tanner, like Jergens Glow or the other brands.  Who has tried them all and has a winner to suggest?

I will probably go get airbrushed for a wedding I have to attend in May, but in the meantime just a little tint and glow would be nice.

Thanks for the help!

I've tried Jergens but couldn't get past the smell.  I like Hawaiian Tropic and St. Ives.  I'm really pale and normal self tanners make me really streaky.  These two have worked well.

In the past I have used Jergens Natural Glow, Dove Energy Glow, and Olay Touch of Sun.  They all gave me similar results but, for me, the Dove had the least worst smell.

I like Jergens and Hawaiian Tropic.  To me they have minimal smells compared to self tanner and are easier to use and less streaky.  I want to seriously suggest you try St. Tropez self tanner.  I have found that it is the easiest, less smelly, less streaky self tanner on the market.

BTW, Jergens has a "gradual self tanner express" lotion that left me with more streaks than an actual self tanner!  Also never try to cheat by getting a darker lotion than your skintone, it never works!

I have tried so many of them, but the Jergens one was my favorite. I had less streaks with that one and it made me a more natural color.

I have a friend that tanned through her pregnancy, and while she looked and felt better then she does not now about 5 years later.  Her belly skin is still darker than the rest of her, and her linea nigra never went away hmm.gif - I guess from tanning the belly skin while it was stretched out, and now it's more condensed again?

Not worth it to risk that IMO!  I hope you find a self tanner you like!

Why don't you just do the mystic tans at the tanning salon? It's a spray tan, so no one should judge you, right?

Have you considered spray tanning?  I did it last year and just did it over the Easter weekend.  I love it and it looks really nice.  The only problem I had was on my hands.  It didn't look so good because somehow I got the solution on my palms, but it looked great everywhere else.
