NYC in two weeks--so excited!

Yay, I'm so excited, my friends and I are going to be in NYC from Feb. 15-18.  We're staying at the Waldorf (!) and we need to know about all the happening spots.  Also, how cold will it be do you think?  What should I pack?  Help please!

Sounds like a good time -- I would love to stay at the Waldorf (please take pictures of your room to share!)

I can't help you out with current hot spots, but I can help you out with the weather.  weather.com is a great resource for me when planning a trip as I'm able to look up average temperatures for each month. Here is a link for NYC: http://www.weather.com/weather/wxclimatology/monthly/graph/USNY0996?from=search

It appears as though the averages are between 24 as a low and 40 as a high during February.

Also keep in mind this region can experience extreme fluctutations depending on what fronts and pressures are moving through. For example, last year on January 7th, it was 72 degrees -- so just keep an eye on the weather leading up to your trip as you'll never know what might be passing through.

My recommendation is to bring things you can easily layer, that way you're covered regardless of the weather fluctuations.  If it's a typical February, it will be wet, cold, and slushy....

*Jealous* And yes, please take pics so we can live vicariously thru you aww.gif I also would plan on it being cold but bring a few long sleeve knits to wear in case it gets warmer, or when indoors. And of course bring coat, scarf, gloves, beanie.

It's been cold!  I always layer-up.  Bring a scarf, gloves, and hat for sure.  If I'm going to be walking and shopping layers are best, I hate having to carry a huge coat around with me in the store.

Happening place depends on what you want to do.  Where you're staying is close to where I'm working now...I can reccomend a few bars around there for picking up business men on their happy hour before heading home, Ha!  You can take the 4,5,6 (from grand central) down to Union square which is one of my favorite areas.  Not only is there a huge DSW but quite a few bars and places to eat.  It's close enough to NYU that it gets a younger crowd.

I also love going out in the west village, if you start at Bleecker st there are lots and lots of bars and cafes and such.

have fun!
