Baby Gift Questions....opinions needed
Permalink Closed

My friend is having a baby in January.  She decorated the nursery in what the fabric store called "london plaid" - it is basically burberry plaid.

I bought my husband Burberry cologne and it came with a cute burberry bear that I would love to give her with my baby gift...one problem - the bear has
"2007" on one foot.  Her baby isn't due until next month, 2008.

Here is  a pic off ebay:

My options are (1) give it to her anyway (2) check out Build-A-Bear to try to find some cute shoes to cover it (although this bear is much smaller than those), or (3) scrap the idea altogether

What are you thoughts?

Totally cheesy...but could you embroider the other foot with "Made in", " Created in", " Baby's name copyright in"

I don't think the 2007 is that big of a deal.  I think it'll be cute in the nursery!

Is the fabric on the feet the kind that shows holes after it's been pierced?  If not, you could just slice through the embroidery threads and remove the 2007 altogether ....

I would give it to her anyway, and say its a small gift that you thought would be a great addition to the baby's new room.

Eh.. personally if I recieved it, it would be obvious to me that it was part of something else..... Burberry doesn't usually make teddy bears. So unless she's the type of person not to care, I wouldn't give it to her as a gift.

is there anyway you can take the bottoms of the feet off and replace it with a plain fabric? I think it would be a cute gift accompanied with something else, maybe a gift basket with little essentials like baby bubble bath, hooded towel, etc?

It wouldn't really be a gift....I would totally just tell her I got it with cologne I bought....I just thought it would be cute to tie onto the top of the gift.  I just thought the 2007 was kind of random

I smell a REGIFTER!!! GAH Kari! lol..j/k.
I think it would a great gift topper...and I like Elle's idea of trying to remove it...hmmm...would a brown colored sharpe help out???...(kidding). Just give it to her.
unless A would like to keep it...are you sure he has no use for it?

I would have no problem with that approach - it's cute and it matches and what else would you do with it?

i think it's a cute idea...and the 2007 wouldn't bother me. i'm sure the mom would be excited to add something to the nursey that would match!
