UGLY bathroom
Permalink Closed

I love our house.  Every portion of it--except for one room--makes me happy.  Our second bathroom is so ugly, but it's the one closest to the guestroom.

Can you help me come up with some ideas to make it look nicer for a guest who is coming in tomorrow?  I'll list some facts about the room and some ideas I already have.

Current state of bathroom
Early 1960s salmon tile (not cute and vintage, just ugly and old)
sour milk paint color on wall
sink has stains and gouges near drain
salmon pink tub
salmon pink ceramic toothbrush holder attached to wall
salmon pink ceramic towerbar ends
floor is salmon pink and burgundy tile
recessed ceiling light in shower, pull-chain fluorescent light above medicine cab

Improvements already made
New aluminum/chrome shower curtain bar
White waffle shower curtain with vinyl liner
White, new showerhead
New, white toilet

A couple ideas
Clean, white towels (of course)
Candles
Bamboo house fragrance thingy
light grey polished river rock for sink basin

Anything else?

Maybe some fresh cut flowers and fancy travel toiletries?    Maybe a rug so they don't have to step on the cold floor?

The river rock in the sink to hide the gouges is a fantastic idea, btw!

I second the flowers ... they make any room look more cheerful.

If your going with a more simple clean modern look (aka riverrock and whites) maybe a bamboo plant?

I think the key is to make sure it's super clean (which I am sure you already have the room spic an span) and pulled together.

When I stay with friends I really like having fluffy, soft towels. Maybe throw in some extra fabric softener?
