Chicago girls- can you help me quick?
Permalink Closed

I thinking of taking a quick weekend trip to Chicago this weekend and need your help!  I will be taking my three boys (ages 13, 5, and 4) and hubby.  Hubby wants to see our alma-mater (Xavier) play in a basketball tournament at the Sears Center.  Here are my questions:

-Is there a Santaland-type display anywhere in Chicago that I can take my little ones to?  A place where they can see Santa that has a great atmosphere?  Does Marshall Fields (I mean Macy's-ugghh!) on State Street have something like this?  Or maybe another department store?
-What are the other not-to-miss holiday things that we should visit?
-I believe we will be staying in Schaumburg-can we take a train into the city?  If so, where is the best place to do this from?

Thanks so much!

I'm not from Chicago, but Christkindlmarket is cool.

And here's some Macy's Santa info.

D is right on with the Christkindlmarket, it's right by Fields too so you can see the windows all decorated. Christkindlmarket is in Daley Plaza, they have a beautiful Christmas tree there and all kinds of little shops, the kids can get hot cocoa, pick out ornaments etc.
Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg will likely have a really great Santa there, they usually do, but I dont' think the santa's appear until after Thanksgiving.
Ice Skaing in Millineum park would be fun too, you can rent skates there.
The train from Schaumburg is easy. Go to metrarail.com and look at the Milwaukee District West line, that will get you in and out of Schaumburg and bring you into Union Station. everything in the city is walkable or with a 4 yr old very easy to cab.
Have fun!

I agree that Chriskindlmarket will be your best bet. It's right across the street from Macy's, which has big Christmas themed window displays and a short walk to Millenium Park.
