designer clothing patterns- any experiences?
Permalink Closed

so, as i was checking out some dress patterns online, i came across designer patterns so i thought i should pass them along in case anyone is interested (too bad, no ralph lauren,i would never have to go shopping again....)

do designer patterns in general have the potential to be as practical as I think? I figure if you have a pattern from a designer that you know works for you, and you have a pro put it together, they could be quite useful (ie. the alice and olivia pant pattern in whatever fabrics you want, rather than only what is sold) does anyone have any experiences to share?
(i really wish i could afford true bespoke everything.......sigh....)

of course, there are some gorgeous vintage patterns as well (see dressaday.com- very fun blog)

I don't have any experience in using patterns, unfortunately, but I'm intrigued by these Built by Wendy patterns you can order from their site. They're called Built by You and there are patterns for tops, dresses, jackets, pants, and coats. Here's the link:

j mango - I haven't made any of the patterns that you posted, but I have made a couple of things from the regular Vogue line that have turned out well.  You can check out      sewing.patternreview.com  for some really good reviews of patterns from all sorts of pattern makers.

Hedvig - A couple of weeks ago I finished the dress on the Built by Wendy pattern you posted.  It was super easy and I love the way it turned out.  I made the solid  blue version in this fabric:
