Ladies, please help! My several employee from work and I will be volunteering at the WBS in our city. The kids will be fairly young, they are not old enough to go to school yet. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for some art and crafts projects we could do with them.
My little girls especially like things that have to do with glitter and foam stickers. Have some colored construction paper (and glue for the glitter) and let them have at it!
Some projects that are good for toddlers and a little older: -Yarn and Pasta necklaces, or collages. You can also add some paints, washable, and let them paint on the pasta. -Paperbag puppets, you can have pieces pre-cut for faces and just give them glue sticks. Googly eyes are a big hit with little kids too. - Pom Pom animals, or monsters, let the kids be creative. You can get a big bag of fuzzy pom poms and all you need is glue, more googly eyes and maybe pipe cleaners. -Pipe cleaner flowers, tissue paper flowers. -Finger paints -Sticker stories -You can make lots of cool things with their handprints too, using finger paint to paint their palms press onto paper and then make animals by adding details with paint, crayons, markers. -Insturments: From old papertowel rolls, add dry rice, beans, popcorn seeds, beads, cover the ends and make "rain shakers". Let the kids decorate them with paint. Or use paper plates stapled together and filled to make tamborines.
It might be nice to take a polaroid camera and take pics of each kid with their mother and then use foam board with a magnet on the back to make a picture frame that they can decorate with stickers and stuff.
Thank you girls for all the wonderful ideas, that for sure we will use in the next event coming in two weeks.
Leah: I was thinking also to do a picture frame with a picture of the kid, but the coordinator said that we are not allowed to take pics of the kids, for their safety. Which I understand. But we want to do a volunteer at a school next month, so for sure we will do that.
