have you notice what brand of workout clothes they like to wear? if so, maybe a comfy sweater since summer is almost over. Or maybe if they use a gym bag, you can get them a new one?

The trainers have "uniforms" that they wear. Ugh. this is hard

I don't know about your gym, but my boyfriend is a Personal Trainer here in Chicago, and while his gym gives him shirts he has to wear, he is responsible for buying his own pants - they all have to wear the same kind, but they have to buy them.  If tha's the case, maybe a giftcard to a local sporting good store.  I know my SO would appreciate that, as he hates having to drop his dough on new pants.

Otherwise, how well do you know him?  What's he into?

Heehee, I am evil, so I would probably give my trainer some irresistably good brownies or cupcakes (homemade).

haha, thats a good idea.

shopchicago, I know him well. He is (obviously) really into fitness. He does triathalons and his new job will be at a triathalon training facility. he's also pretty religious.

The gift certificate is a good idea, especially if he can use it for gear and equipment (triathlons can get pricey) with a nice note about how much he has had an impact on you. Since I have been personal training, I get thrilled when my clients tell me how happy they are with the results they are seeing.

Or maybe a gift certificate for a nice sport or deep tissue massage?
