I'm looking to purchase a laptop. I can afford about $550 - $650. Any good recommendations within that price range? I was looking at some Dells. I can't find any reviews on any of them.
Cnet.com has some of the best tech reviews out there. There in both video and written format plus they have tons of ways to compare items with links to stores that have them in stock.

Considering your price range, have you thought about buying one refurbished? A lot of them are like new and come with warranties. I think you get a lot more for your money that way. I bought a refurbished dell last fall through ebay from a business. It is a dell and I am very happy with it. Still no problems with my laptop. If you rather have new there are still lots of good deals on ebay. I've only had Dells and I think they are great. Also on the Dell website they have a good deal on a Dell Latitude D series (what I have) for only $599 down from $917!
i think this might be out of your price range but fwiw we have a dell inspiron and i love it. i have a lot of confidence in dell computers/laptops. we've never had a problem with ours. i hope you can find a good deal on one.
I have a latitude as well and really like it, but just an FYI, the keyboards go bad fairly easily (we have the same ones at work and someone is always having a problem with the i,j,k,l keys...). Haven't had any problems with either of mine though...
i don't know if this is a one-off, but my dad bought a laptop from dell recently and found them very difficult to deal with - they agreed on things over the phone when he ordered the laptop, but then got charged a higher price when they billed him. i think it took ages to get it sorted out, and the laptop itself took ages to be delivered too. i don't think there have been any problems with the actual laptop though.
