come again in January bec. we have enough rain to last us until then!!! I'm in Dallas, praying that the rain will stop. I work downtown, a few miles from the Trinity River which runs for 50 miles to Fort Worth. From my bldg, I can clearly see the river and it looks like it is going to spill over any minute, and we still have rain projected through next weekend! I'm freaking out for the people who live near the Trinity. If the levies break, it will be mass devastation on a somewhat smaller scale than New Orleans. I would estimate that hundreds of thousands of people will be affected and lose their homes/businesses. The drainage area in to the river is huge - 6100 square miles. So, if it continues to rain, it's only a matter of days before the river floods. I would not be personally affected bec. I live far north in the burbs, but I do have friends and co-workers that would be. My BFF's sister lost everything last weekend due to a creek that flooded near her home, and her neighbors who were trying to rebuild, had total losses THIS week bec. of the continued rain.
Please pray with me that the rains will cease soon here in Texas, and if you don't pray, please wish it to stop. My friends and are already talking about building an ark, so we have a plan in place. I joke but not really.
Thanks guys!

I'm with you Misty - things here in OKC and most of Oklahoma are just the same. Many residents have already had their homes flooded. I have a co-worker gone today because the bottom level of her condo flooded. It is raining here as we speak and the forecast show 7 days of rain!!!
I keep expecting an Ark to float by!!
I hope everyone can at least get their personal items such as family photos out of their homes now before they get destroyed. The sad thing is that a lot of people do not have flood insurance. My area is currently something like 24 inches over the usual rainfall total for the year so far.
My parents live in OKC and my mom called me today and told me that their house was flooding. Apparently water got into their vents (heat/air) and my mom heard a gurgling noise. Apparently my dad was pumping water out of them all evening yesterday.
My bf is in Dallas and i'm in Arkansas. I feel like regardless of where I go its gonna be raining! I hope it stops soon!!

I live in Houston, where thankfully we are not dealing with that, but I have been hearing about it on the news nonstop. I pray that you all are safe in Dallas, Austin and Oklahoma. Hopefully it will stop before it causes more damage.
Break out the row boats here in Austin, it's awaful down here. I don't think we've EVER had this much rain in the month of June, we should be burning up by now......

I am with you, since I am in Dallas also. It's got to stop already! This summer has been the worst. I am so sad about all the people who have died already from the flooding, in addition of course to all of those who have lost so much.

Same here in San Antonio!!! It rained for two weeks straight!!! Finally today we have some sunshine but they said the rain should come back!! And it's still so very hott down here!!
I hear ya chick! Last year at this time we were in such a drought that they were saying it would take 14 years to get the rivers / lakes to an acceptable level - now they are overflowing. Our fireworks were cancelled because the lake where they shoot them is so high it is over picnic table - all the lakes are closed....it's just weird here (suburbs of Dallas).
Misty - how are you btw, I haven't talked to you in forever
