When you find amazing jeans...
Permalink Closed

do you ever buy two pairs and hem one to a flats length, one to a heels length?  I had two pairs of earnest sewn deccas, one in a size smaller, and i wore both to the ground and didn't regret spending the $150 twice as all.  Now that i've found another amazing pair (this happens once every year or two), i kind of want a heels pair and flats pair.  is this crazy?  Each is $160.

Not crazy!  I kind of wish I'd done the same thing for some of my favorites.

not crazy! for some reason though - my jeans always shrink to "flats" length when they were hemmed with heels. Thus I just always hem my new jeans to "heels" length and I have a growing collection of "flats" jeans.

do you wash them before you get them hemmed?

Denim lenght always shrinks over time. I do the same thing, one for flats, the other for heels. The ones I hem for heels I usually leave REALLY long so that even after a few months I can still wear them with my heels...

No your not crazy BTW. I do this with jeans, and also when I find a great basic white or ivory Tshirt (regardless of price ) I will buy multiples.

I don't, but I've thought about it a lot. I'm totally in love with my jeans I got from express a few months ago, but becase I wasn't familiar with Express jeans I didn't want to buy two at once if they turned out to be crappy or easily misshapen. Now that I know I like them and they still fit great after many washes and wears, I'll probably buy two at a time from now on.

I think that's a great idea.  I generally buy jeans that work with flats or a low heel, and I have one pair for regular heels - but I think my next great pair - I'll buy two!

I have been wanting to do that lately; I think it is a great idea. Great jeans are hard to find!

I wore my AG Angels so much I tore a gash through the bum area but I still can't bear to get rid of them. I really wish I'd had a heels and flats pair of those.

I guess the only reason I don't do it now is because my flats/sneaker jeans are Joe's Provocateurs, which have a 30"-31" inseam off the rack. If I was taller, I'd probably buy duplicate pairs though.

Lynnie - yeah I do wash them before hemming.  And I only wash jeans on cold water & delicate cycle dry.  I think it's cuz I (used to) wear jeans every day so they would just get washed A LOT.

2 pairs of your faves is definitely a good idea!

I hem mine to heel length. Sometimes I wish I had hemmed them to flat length, but considering I only wear my favorite jeans when I go out, I buy regular jeans like from the Gap, for everyday flat where.

sounds like a good idea if they are perfect fitting jeans.  And if you wear a lot of both flats and heels.
