can you recommend healthy ones I can make at home and subsitute for a meal? I'm trying to lose weight and sometimes I buy ones from Juice It Up! but it can be pricey if I buy often.......

My favorite smoothie recipe:

1  banana
1/2 cup frozen cherries
1/2 cup frozen whole strawberries
1 cup soy milk
add splenda to taste

It's a very smooth, creamy smoothie.  If you cut the banana up ahead of time and freeze it, its' thicker, kinda like a milk shake.

I buy a frozen fruit "smoothie mix", but soon I'll probably be buying my own frozen fruit and mixing it, because I don't like the little pineapple chunks. But I do:

1/2 cup frozen fruit (my smoothie mix has strawberry, papya, and pineapple)
1/2 a banana (sometimes a whole one if it's smaller or I want a creamier smoothie)
1/4 cup milk (this sounds nerdy, but sometimes I even use vanilla Ensure because it has vitamins & junk in it!)
1/4 cup orange juice (or some orange juice ice cubes)

whee! blend and eat! This makes a little over one cup, because I usually make this as a bedtime snack. For a meal, I just double it.

Mine is very similar to needsfashionadvice's -- I also like to freeze the banana.
I like to add a small yogurt (like Dannon or Yoplait), too.

1 6-8 oz vanilla nonfat yogurt
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup strawberries
splash or two skim milk
drop honey (optional, but it adds a nice flavor)

I mix and match different fruits and yogurt flavors, but this is my basic recipe.  It makes a really big glass, and it's a filling breakfast.
