Investment galoshes?
Permalink Closed

I am traveling to London soon and was trying to think of an investment piece to get there. I came to Spain intending on buying good leather boots but haven't seen any I like, so I thought maybe Galoshes. I am from Chicago but go to school in Pittsburgh and want a slightly more subtle pair that I can wear and will last more or less forever. I have narrowed it down to Burberry or Hunter's if anyone has a pair and can argue for one over the other I would appreciate...those who don't have either are also welcome to cast a vote.

Burberry Wellington
CHECK WELLINGTON BOOT
And these hunter wellingtons which won't copy right...I would also like recommendations on color...I was thinking brown practical but not as dull or military as black.

my roommate has navy hunters and she wears them all the time.  I'm personally not a fan of printed galoshes- i understand why they are appealing on a rainy day but i prefer to just throw something like that on and not worry about whether or not it "goes".  I also don't like the idea of status rainboots, so take that for what its worth...

Ditto.  I think that if I were in your position I would try to find a fabulous pair of shoes or a purse and spend my money on that instead of something to wear that is going to get gross and muddy.  But, if you have your mind set on rainboots I would probably get the Burberry pair because of the pattern- they seem less like something hikers/hunters would use.  HTH!

i agree. i love rainboots as much as the next person but i would rather spend the mucho bucks on a nice pair of heels that will feel more special.
btw, target has some really cute rainboots on their website for ~$20. the quality is pretty good, my daughter loves hers.

I would try to get something unique that you love... Eventhough Burberry is made in the UK I see people all over the place wearing those Wellies. I would want something that will make people say "whered you get that?"

Thanks for the advice...I think I shall wait to see the Hunters in person...but you have confirmed that the Burberry isn't me...if I have a pattern I want it not to be associated with a status symbol like that.

i love the wellies target has lately!

i think any choice you make will be better than the girls i see in oakland wearing their pajamas with uggs.

(that said, i love my pucci rainboots! i feel they are stylish without saying "look at me!")

If I were going to London I would absolutely snatch up a pair of these from Orla Kiely:

Cute! I love Wellies -- you should definitely get some in England.
