I forgot my good friend's 30th birthday, which was this week. Does anyone have any fabulous gift suggestions that can be shipped quickly? Normally I'd get her clothes because she's a total clotheshorse, but she's currently 6 months pregnant. I'd rather not do flowers. Any suggestions? Especially from moms? What does someone want when they are six months pregnant?

A spa gift certificate for some pampering?

Well being 6 months preggo myself, I'd say maybe a gift certificate to Mimi maternity or some maternity clothing store.  She's probably outgrown some of her maternity stuff, plus needing new stuff for spring.  Or maybe a locket for her to put a picture of her new baby in when he/she arrives.

How about a new handbag or a bag that she could also use as a diaper bag when the baby comes?

Every women loves a new bag!!!

This is a good idea. FP had a good idea too...it's nice to have some good maternity clothes that fit right. Another idea is a gift card to a baby store. There's so much stuff to get before the baby comes and it adds up.

thanks for the ideas, ladies! I never know if pregnant women get tired of receiving pregnancy-type stuff as gifts.

I forgot to mention that she lives in a small town about four hours from here... I would be surprised if there were any spas there, although she does love them.

I think I may do the Mimi Maternity gift card -- is that the best store? I can order online, and it says they can be used online too, so she can order.

Well, there's also a Pea in the Pod, but I think it's ridiculously overpriced, especially for maternity clothes.  Mimi is owned by the same company and is considered their mid range, it offers some designers and some of the stuff is pricey but a lot easier to swallow for something that will only be worn for a few months.  HTH!

Another idea is to get her something like jewelry that will last past her pregnancy.  i'm just suggesting this b/c i had a baby 4 mos ago and am having to put away (or throw out) a lot of really cute maternity clothes that i spent a lot of money on.

As an example--i just bought this necklace for a friend's birthday:

oops, i can't open the page but it's a silver half moon pendant necklace at peggyli.com.  for some reason the site isn't working for me right now.  very cute and the prices are reasonable.  kimberly baker also has good stuff that i am really into right now.
