In June relrel and I are going to Belize for a week. Specifically, Ambergris Caye. Has anyone else been? What can you tell me about it?

Somethings I'm wondering, specifically:
-what are the prices like for food, beer etc?
-Is it safe? especially at night... being women and all
-what do you do for money? did you take US dollars and exchange them down there?
-best things you did? things to avoid?

I'm so excited, I'm really looking forward to this trip!
