boob job....
Permalink Closed

so....i'm an AA cup, and I've always thought about getting a boob job.  I'm SUPER scared to do it, and to have to redo it every 10 yrs scares me to death.  Plus I hear stories of boob jobs gone bad and that frightens me alot too.  I'm thinking about getting a full B cup, nothing crazy like double DDs.  The reason is this: I have so much trouble finding bathing suits, dresses, and tops that fit.  I wanna feel more confident about myself and I hate that IO have to steer clear of certain types of shirts just b/c i know my boobies wont fill it.  How do you ladies feel about this? Has anyone here ever gotten breast implants? Sorry if this is a bit personal...pm me if you dont want to post here....

TIA!!!!!

Iam a small A cup and I totally know where you are coming from about the tops not fitting. I have a hard time finding bras if the cup is cut really small I can do a 32 A . Finding anything smaller than that is a big pain. I have often thought about getting one but Iam to scared. I really would like to hear more about too.

Not to play devil's advocate, but I am a C cup (natural) and fit problems won't end for you with implants. I have to get nearly everything taken in at the waist because my waist is much smaller than my cup size. So you may end up with a more hourglass-y figure, if that's what you want, but it don't get implants just to solve your fit problems, because you still won't be happy, if that's the case.

I've never had any cosmetic surgery but I wanted to reply bc I have also thought about getting breast implants. I wanted to post something on here actually but I was a little embarrassed and wasnt sure what peoples responses would be. In my case I have about a small B cup, but my left side is an A cup. Its been like this since high school when I had a cyst removed. Anywho...I have mixed feelings about it. I would love to have more symmetrical breasts (I know probably no one has symmetrical breasts but mine were at least about the same size before and ever since its has really bothered me) but Im also really scared about the sugery and recovery, etc.

Im not sure what your build is like but I remember watching Dr. 90210 and Dr. Rey did breast implants for a really tiny girl, AA maybe smaller. He said it was really difficult to stretch her skin for the implants. You may want to consider a small or medium B cup just so your skin isnt stretched to the max, probably making the implants feel harder. (or make sure the surgeon will be able to fit the size implants you want comfortably)

If youre really serious about getting the surgery I would talk to women who were youre size before the surgery and hopefully got the size you are looking at. Just so you can have an idea of what the outcome would look like. Everyones experience with plastic surgery is different. I wish I could help answer some questions but I just thought I would share so yuo dont feel like the only one.

I'm a full B (maybe even small C at this point- i've gained weight).  Clothes definitely fit better when I was a smaller B.  I think fashion is cut for the flat chested actually.  Maybe consider a small B?  Whatever is in proportion- if you are really slender, i wouldn't go big.  I've seen lots of topless models- my boobs are like twice the size of theirs- but i also weigh more.
My friend got a breast reduction (from DD to large C) and she's much happier, but wishes she had gone smaller.  She still has trouble fitting into some tops.  She's petite but curvy.

Hey hon, I know how you feel, I am the exact same way. I get so depressed and frustrated every time I try something on and there's empty space where nice sexy boobs are supposed to be--it SUCKS. But for me, personally, surgery is out of the question. Even aside from the cost, I just hate the thought of having a foreign object surgically inserted into my body for purely aesthetic reasons. I hate the thought of the scarring that can accompany the surgery, the loss of sensation, hate the idea that they would (and they do, no matter how good your surgeon is) feel different and unnatural. And the things that can do wrong from the surgery, like infection and capsular contraction, are enough on their own to deter me from doing it. I know there are many women who've had the surgery who haven't had any problems and feel it's totally worth it, but to me personally I'd rather stick with natural and undamaged breasts no matter what. So that's my two cents.

Oh, yeah, and the pain of the surgery itself--you bleed, bruise, swell, and ache like hell--why would you put yourself through something like that if you don't have to?

My SIL just got one...she loves it. I don't want one, but I am not sure I could do it, for the same reasons sephorablue mentioned.

I am all for plastic surgery, but I draw the line at inserting foreign objects into my body. To me, that seriously weirds me out on a whole different level.

If it really bothers you though, and you think it would make you happy..you should do it and don't worry about what other people think. Definitely do your homework, though!

IMO, I would be grossed out with the idea of a foreign object in my body.

Have you tried a water bra or anything? I just ask because maybe you could try a bra that makes your boobs seem bigger and try going shopping with that for a while to see if things really fit how you think they will with a boob job. Then you could try out your "new boobs" for a couple months and see if it's something you really want to commit to.

I have them and I didnt think it was weird or gross.  I went from a small A to a C.  Im short 5" and petite 106lbs (but now right now) and wouldnt have gone any bigger.

I hope I dont offend anyone or nothing is TMI, (D -- feel free to remove my post if its too much)

I got them 4 yrs ago and don't regret it for a minute.  However, I researched A LOT and considered the pros and cons and after a full year of intensively reading and asking ?s, I decided that I wanted to do it.

All of my aunts have C+, and I think I cursed myself when my mom made me wear my 1st training bra at 10 and cried and wished my boobs "would never be huge"...I got my wish In high school I lost all my baby weight and I ended up with a barely there A.  Like the small fry mentioned, it was really hard to find well fitting bras especially the 32As and I almost always ended up w/a big 34A. This and other reasons like wanting to even my top with my curvy bottom and overall fit issues, I decided to get the surgery done when I was 20.  My main concerns were everything sephorablue said: scarring, loss of sensation, the natural/unnatural feel, infection/capsular contraction, and what would happen when I had kids.

Like any surgical procedure, there are risks, even something as simple as a Botox injection has risks.  To minimize your chances of a cosmetic procedure gone wrong, I strongly recommend you get a consultation to help you decided whether or not this procedure is what you want.  Make sure you go to a board certified surgeon and ask a lot of questions.  If you don't feel comfortable or "right" about the doctor, go to someone else, ask around, go to a highly recommended/reputable doctor.  The 1st doctor I went to I just walked in, I knew nothing about him, I even went as far as scheduling and putting a deposit down on my date.  His assistant had bad english and frankly I wasnt 100% sure about him.  A couple weeks later a classmate in college introduced me to her boss, a plastic surgeon who I immediately felt he was the one I wanted to do the procedure.  I lost my part of my deposit at the other office, but I am SO happy I went w/my gut. On my surgery date, my bf of 4yrs (my now hubby) refused to go w/me in protest of me having the procedure.  I'm grateful he did that because it proves I did it for me, not for anyone else. (for the record, DH came around in the end

Depending on the position you put the implant, has a lot to do with the natural look factor.  If you have it placed under the muscle, it will look more natural than placing it over the muscle.  I also read that when you get a mammogram and the implant is under the muscle the implant wont interfere in the way of testing.  Your body will take a while to fully heal, so you will have to help it by massaging the breast daily to help soften the muscles and help the implant drop and give the breast a "natural" look and feel.

One thing I also recommend is to know what to expect.  Like I said, I read A LOT so I knew it would be painful at 1st, then really sore, then ok.  I planned to take 7 days off work .  It actually went a lot better than I had expected.  The 1st 24 hours were pure hell...so painful. My mom had to pull my pants down to pee and I couldnt lay flat on my back.  If I did, I let out a loud "yelp!" when I was helped up. My chest has tightly wrapped in a big ace bandage that had to be kept in for 24 hours.  But the next day when it came off, it was pure relief.  After the 24 hours, I felt great, my upper body was still really, really sore, kinda like I worked out at the gym for 24 hours non-stop, but I was up walking around and hanging out at my bf's house..I actually drove my cousing home that day...I later found out I wasnt supposed to be driving (on Vicodin)

My friends say they feel 'natural' and everyone that I have told is shocked that they're not 100% real.  When I got preggers I was looking forward to them dropping a little bit more and think they look a lot better now than before.  My scar (1" under nip area) is almost invisible.  Unless I point it out, you wouldnt even notice it.

Anyway, I highly recommend this site: www.implantinfo.com It has was ton of resources and information, guest surgeon live chat Q&A, etc.  There's B&A pics of different situations: before kids, after kids or age, race, weight, height, reconstruction, etc.   I found this site very helpful in my research.  I also recommend www.plasticsurgery.org and www.fda.gov/cdrh/breastimplants/

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask or PM me.  I dont mind at all.

HTHS!

you're cool, BQ.

I second going under the muscle if you choose to do this so it doesn't interfere with a mammogram.

My friend's mother got implants about a year ago. She was self-consious about her chest for a very long time. She works with doctors and assists with these surgeries all the time, and she had been thinking about it for years. When she got a divorce and remarried, she decided that it was finally time... I saw her about 48 hours after her surgery, and she looked grea. She was sore, of course, but she was mobile and smiling. She said that it wasn't nearly as bad as she thought it would be. She is so much happier and more confident now, it's incredible. I've never considered anything like this for myself, because I'm happy enough with mine, but if you do your research and feel that it'll truly make you happier, then I say go for it.

I've got them too. I love them now (got them in 2002), but I'm not going to lie... it hurt really bad post-op. I had the under the muscle procedure and I was really sore and in pain. But you get really good meds so that helps. I went from a B to a double D (eta.. my impants made me a D, but in the past 5 years, I've either grown and/or put weight on in that area)... it sounds like a big jump but I'm really tall and 'big boned' so it still looks in proportion.

If you have any questions, you can pm me too. I would recommend doing a lot of research and getting recommendations when selecting your surgeon. DO NOT pick someone just because they're cheap.

I'm an A cup as well, and I would never get a boob job. Never ever. I wouldn't want surgery for the sake of having surgery. There's so many health risks, why would anyone want to take the chance? Besides with a really good bra you can get the same effect. I actually respect women who have smaller chests and don't get implants. Like Kate Hudson and Gwen Stefani for example. Those are two gorgeous women. I think small chests are just as feminine as a large chest, and there are plenty of people, both men and women who would agree. I've had a small chest all my life and I've never had problems with "getting attention." However, whatever you decide to do, I hope it turns out for the best.

I have a few friends who have gotten boob jobs and been totally happy with them. I would've never known it was a boob job if I hadn't been told. Just make sure you research the Dr. who does yours very well. One friend had hers done and it was great but then had it reduced some and it was a bad job. It made her boobs look horribly messed up and left big ugly scars. You couldn't tell when she was clothed but she and her husband knew what it looked like underneath. She was really upset by it (I would've been too!). Please do LOTS of research on the place/Dr that is doing it before you have it done and see if you can talk to some people who have actually used that Dr. if possible.

My mom just had hers done at the beginning of January and she loves them.  I just saw them last weekend too and they look absolutely fantastic.  I'm completely jealous and now I want them after I have kids.

My mom got hers done under the muscle and she had really no problem with pain whatsoever.  She said it was really easy, actually.  But she went to an incredible doctor and he had her on a regimen of all sorts of vitamins and anti-bruising stuff for weeks before she had the surgery.  He also prescribed her a Xanax to take the day before the surgery to ease any anxiety, which I think helped a lot.  She also had a pain pump for a few days and she had drains in for a week or so to reduce the swelling and I think that more than anything contributed to her lack of pain.  I was really amazed at how well she did--I talked to her after her procedure and she was coherent and doing pretty well.  She was back at the gym within two weeks and she and my dad just got done painting their house themselves, so I'd say her recovery time was pretty good!

I think another contributing factor to her success with it was follow up care.  Seriously, her doctor was great.  She went in the day after the operation and then followed up every other day for three weeks.  This surgical center also has a spa, so they'd wash her hair for her and give her a massage and a facial every week or so.

I have no problem with breast implants as long as they're not tacky and fake looking. Personally I would never get them done, but I have considered other types of plastic surgery for the future to balance my figure out (like a breast reduction).

However, I think that if you're concerned about the way your clothes fit, you may only want to go up to a small/medium B. Fit models for clothes are almost always a B cup (hence why the girls with C cups and up start having serious button down issues). I started having fit problems in my chest once I was a full B and it's only gotten worse as they've gotten larger.

Thanks ladies!! and thanks for not judging me...I've always considered having plastic surgery but I think I'm going to have to build up a lot of guts and do alot more research to actually go through with it...my bf really doesnt want me to do it but its still always a thought in my head.  I know that I am perfectly fine the way I am and I guess people just want what they dont have...

While I really dont have any issue with women getting implants, I personally would never get them.

I live in CA and breast implants are as common as brushing your teeth. I actually rather like have my own natual (although small) perky breasts. Not to mention I have seen to many "bad" boob jobs that look way to big and unnatural. I guess it helps that DH hates them and thinks I look great just the way I am.

If you do deciede to get them I would second what everyone else has said and do the research and make sure you have a really really good surgeon.

Let us know what you deceide ...
