My friends and I are going to a concert in Houston on the 24th. The concert starts at eight at the Toyota Center. We like to leave San Antonio maybe aroung 9 or 10 in the morning. We already plan on visiting the Galleria. Any other suggestions, also any good restaurants we can go to? thanks in advance!

Do you just plan on visiting for that day or are you planning a longer trip? Just wondering how much time you needed to fill up. The Galleria could take you many hours if you are planning to really shop. There are alot of places to eat there inside the Galleria, including the Cheescake Factory and Kona Grill.

what kind of food do you like?  How much time do you want to shop/eat and do you want to do other things?

Food wise - there is a cheesecake factory in the galleria.  Its pretty yummy.  There is a California Pizza kitchen near the galleria, PF Changs is nearby as is Ra Sushi which is great.  Americas is also near by.  Its pricey but has a good bar and desserts.  Hunans (chinese) is under renovation so its closed right now.

Downtown area - there is hard rock cafe, benihana (ok chain restaurant), cabos - mexican, flying saucer - beer bar with food - we really like it.  Bosa (cuban) is ok as is Zula (traditional american).

Midtown has Fish (sushi), Farragos (never been).

If you take Westheimer to downtown you will pass up Chuy's which is a must in my book.  Taco Milagro is nearby - its faster food mexican (ie not as good as chuys but better than say taco cabana) but if the weather is nice its good to sit outside and hang out.  La Strada (Italian) is also on Westheimer near downtown.  We order from there at work often and I like it.

Shopping - there is the galleria which will take a few hours depending on how much yalls shopping tastes are alike.  There is a strip mall across the street with Old Navy and Marshalls.  Across the other side of the street is DSW and container store.  If you drive down Westheimer a tad you'll find Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, Anthro, Banana, etc.

Down Westheimer between Shepard (Sp??) and Montrose is  a ton of second hand shops like buffalo exchange and some vintage shops.  I have been wanting to check them out but have yet to go.

Aurora has some great ideas in the area. Also you may check out Rice Village. It is an outdoor shopping area with a lot to choose from. There is a boutique Abejas that is cool. I hope you have fun here.

Aurora-Buffalo Exchange is cool. I go there and sell clothes sometimes and the people are really nice. Some of those other vintage shops on Westheimer smell so old that you know you are shopping vintage. I am all for being thrifty, but I hate that smell. Buffalo Exchange is the best of them though because it is clean.

I was just going to add Grand Lux Cafe is a yummy place to eat.  Similar to Cheesecake factory but I like the menu better.  They're across the street from the mall in the same shopping center as Old Navy.  They have a good cheap wine list and yummy desserts (including some of the cheesecake factory cheesecakes).  Chuy's is yummy but it gets so busy!  I love Taco Milagro, they have great shrimp tacos.

I didn't know there is a Buffalo Exchange here!!!  I work right by the Galleria (on a project until May) during the week.  I also didn't know there was a Flying Saucer downtown, I wonder if it's like the one in Little Rock I'll have to check that out too!

Have fun shopping I still get lost in the Galleria Mall.
