eyelash extensions...

Has anyone done this yet?  I have an opportunity to get this done for a great bargain and was curious to hear anyone else's experiences with it.  It is not something I would normally do especially if it were for the full price.

Please let me know your thoughts.

My mom got it done, and ended up being allergic to the glue they use .  Irritation, infection, days without her contacts, and prescription antibiotic ointment ensued.  She's quite the product hopper, and hasn't had any other instances like this before, so she didn't even think to ask them to test the glue on her first.  Maybe it wouldn't have reacted on a less-sensitive area though.

I think it's an awesome idea, but unless I personally knew or could talk to more than one person who'd used this person before, I wouldn't do it.

my mom had this done twice.  It looks great for 2 weeks or so, but then it starts to fall off.  It looks pretty good on her, but she couldnt use mascara and had to be careful when washing her face, because of the extensions.

several salons that i visit now are doing this. it looks great but as janey831 mentioned but it isn't long before you're back to get replacements.  and as she also mentioned you have to be very careful about the products you use.

also, one of my sales reps had the same allergic reaction that elle's mom had.  she also was allergic to the glue and her face around her eyes was swollen for days.  i would definitely test the glue first to make sure you're not allergic.

but- they look AMAZING on.  really gorgeous full eyelashes and you don't have to use mascara anymore!

They had a warning about this on my local news.  People have had their eyes burned from the glue and lost all their lashes from reactions.  I guess its like any procedure there are risks involved but the news made it look awful.

I'm not sure if the results vary based on who does them (I'm assuming they would), but BF's mom and sister both got them and hated them. They were really just too much. Like, when I saw both of them, it was kind of like, "Oh are you wearing fake eyelashes?"... kind of the effect I get when I am wearing colour contacts (everyone just stares at your eyes trying to figure out what's going on).

They ended up pulling them off because you can't rub your eyes etc with them on, so it was driving both of them crazy. I think it pulled out some eyelashes too. Overall, I would definitely look at the past clients of whoever is doing them and decide if they look natural or not; because even though have long eyelashes is great, if it's obvious that they are fake, what is the point?
