Hi, This is my first time posting, but I've been lurking for a couple of months. I'm going to San Diego next weekend and have no idea what to pack. I'll be doing the normal touristy things during the day and will be going to dinners and bars in the evening. I was thinking jeans/comfy flat boots and dresses/tights/boots...opinions? Also, can you San Diego girls tell me what the "must sees" are in and around the city. Thanks

I don't know what to tell you to pack, seeing as I live in snowy MN, but regarding what to do and see - if you do a search in the travel section there are a few threads on San Diego. Have fun!

Welcome!

First of all as far as what to pack, check weather.com. We are currently having a freaky heat spell and it has been really HOT. I dont know if that will change though for next weekend. I def suggest layers, bec night time will get chilly.

I would bring-
Jeans
flats
heels
Cute tops
Going out tops (to wear with jeans and heels)
lightweight sweater or thin jacket or blazer.

As for what to do - the possibilities are endless!
La Jolla (check out prospect st for great shopping and food)
Hillcrest (awesome artsy part of downtown SD with tons of ethnic food and shops)
Fashion Valley Mall (all the major stores. Outdoors , great shopping. The new bloomingdales just opened up there!)
Downtown SD, has great shopping. Amazing resturants (check out sushi deli , its amazing!)Also there is horton plaza mall. Also Little Italy in SD is great with fabulous food and cute boutiques.
The new ballpark (well kinda new) is so cool. Its called petco park.
If you have a car consider heading north to wine country in Temecula. Its about 40 min for SD. There are about 20 world famous wineries and it is a very fun day of drinking!

Downtown is really fun - great bars and nightlife - also Horton Plaza, a multi-level mall outdoors with a Nordstrom. The beach is great too - Pacific Beach has the nightlife for the 20 something crowd.  La Jolla, 15 mintues north of downtown has the 30ish crowd.

Pack in layers, because even if the day is really warm, it can start to get chilly fast as the sun goes down.  However, you're talking to an SC girl, so chilly to us, is not necessarily chilly to poeple used to cold weather.  SD is a casual laid back town.  Even at Ruth Chris you'll find people in jeans.  Jeans and a cute top will never be wrong.  Throw in a dress just for fun.  And pack a swim suit if you want to catch some rays.  It could be in the 60's next week and they are talking about the possibility of rain
