It's not really like Ebay... there are no auctions. It's artisans who made handmade things and etsy helps them set up an online store. There are a lot of different ways to search for products, like by color and you can set up a favorites list and everything. Check it out... it's just etsy.com

I'm an etsy addict! I love original handmade things and supporting independent designers/artists, so it is perfect for me.
Its basically a market place for crafty people to sell the stuff they make. I've bought things like hand dyed yarn, jewelry, screen printed tee shirts, headbands, and bags. There are also home decor thingys, homemade beauty products, candles, art, etc.
Don't let the overwhelming amount of stuff discourage you, like anything there is a fair bit of crap. Once you set up your favorite sellers, its easy. You can look at other people's favorites, so when I find a seller that I like I usually look to see what they like and on and on. I can actually do that for hours.
I'm having a little trouble with my internet connection right now, but I'll come back and post my favorite sellers later.
I love etsy, but I find it challenging to browse. I really wish they showed more items per page and that the categories/tags were a little more intuitive.
I would love to see other people's favorite sellers or hear how you search/browse the site.
Sometimes I just browse through the categories and sometimes I do random keyword searches like "branch necklace" or "leaf earrings" since I'm into organic looking things lately or just "sterling stud earrings." Usually something on the results page will jump out at me and I'll wind up really liking that seller's store.
It does take a lot of time to sift through all the stuff and find what you want. But for the categories - I find the same chalenge with ebay. I like how they are mostly artisans and handmade items and you don't have to wait for an auction to end. Basically etsy is like an artist community sale.
Here are the things I've bought: Print that I framed - makes me think of me and my sister... (but she thinks it looks scary hehehe) - seller: ashelyg
Oh, nonononono! I was gonna click on this thread, and then I thought "Elle, you know that you're going to see something you like and then go to the site and see a bunch of other stuff you like and try to rationalize buying all those things by telling yourself not having money to spend on food will help you lose weight."
Um, I did it anyway ....
Now I must have:
Wow. I am seriously in trouble!

I have a store there, but have not put anything up so far. I have to figure out a good place/way to take photos of the jewelry. You can still add me as a fave though. http://zeitgeist4.etsy.com
I have bought two things from other people.
